MICHA KARLSLUND
Danish artist Micha Karlslund has maintained a studio practice centered on working with glass as her medium and has exhibited in her native Denmark and internationally since 1988. Karlslund makes panels and cylinders for which she developed an image library of original screen-printed glass enamel decals. The sources vary from original photography to images appropriated from print and digital media. Karlslund describes the resulting pieces as ‘poems in solid form’ or ‘poetic statements about being.’
Karlslund has served as an external examiner at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts. Her work is represented in the collection of the V&A Museum in London, England; Design Museum Denmark in Copenhagen, and the Office of Public Works, Collection of Farmleigh, Dublin, Ireland, as well as the private collection of Her Majesty Queen Margrethe II of Denmark and other private collections in Europe and the United States.
